We did that in 1998. Bought a 37 travel trielar; drove cross-country to the Grand Canyon, etc., to California, then up the coast into Canada. The ultimate purpose was to drive the Alaska Highway. We stayed in Alaska for almost a month, then came south on the ferry to Vancouver Island, then back east across the northern tier of states (Yellowstone, Little Big Horn, Mt. Rushmore, etc. We were gone 3 1/2 months, and drove over 16,000 miles. It was a great trip, certainly the longest we'd ever taken. We took one more shorter cross-country trip, following the Lewis & Clark trail in 2003. Then we sold the trielar to one of our daughters.
